FOSCL’s Capital Campaign

You too can be a part of our expansion project!

 In order to better meet the educational and recreational needs of our rapidly growing community, the Friends of the South Coastal Library (FOSCL) have undertaken a Capital Campaign to expand the library/ cultural center.  Please read below to find out what this project entails and how you can help.  Thanks!

 PROJECT DETAILS:

 The building project will increase the size of the South Coastal Library/ Cultural Center from 10,000 to more than 20,000 square feet, by expanding the first floor and adding an addition to the back.  The additional area will include the following features, among others:

·     A multipurpose room capable of accommodating 150 people

·     An additional conference room for groups of 15 people

·     State-of-the-art technological equipment

·     More space for programming for all ages, from toddler to senior

·     More space for patron use of technological and educational materials

 THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN:

 The expected cost of the new building will be $5.7 million.  Of this amount, FOSCL is responsible for raising $2.25 million.  In order to assist us in this endeavor, FOSCL has assembled an Advisory Board made up of prominent business and community leaders from the South Coastal region.  We are pleased to have State Senator George Bunting and State Representative Gerald Hocker as the Honorary Co-Chairmen of the Advisory Board and of our campaign.  Senator Bunting and Representative Hocker have been instrumental in helping FOSCL to get its campaign underway, beginning with our “kick-off” event at the 2006 Harvest Ball.  To keep up with the progress of our campaign, please see the graph below or check out our “thermometer of books” sign on the library grounds!
